The Rendlesham "UFO Landing"
Woodbridge, Suffolk, UK - December 26, 1980

Robert Sheaffer - The Debunker's Domain

In a case that is sometimes referred to as "the British Roswell," wild claims have been made about a UFO that supposedly landed (or crashed, in some accounts) in the Rendlesham forest in eastern England, just outside the Woodbridge U.S. Air Force base. Here in the U.S., television "documentaries" have "re-created" the supposed event with elaborate and impressive special effects.

Skeptical Papers:

In Ian Ridpath's 1985 article first published in The Guardian was the first to explain the Rendlesham "UFO landing" in prosaic terms.

Ridpath's follow-up material on Rendlesham goes into details of claims made about radiation, landing marks, etc.

James Easton has a Rendlesham page James Easton's UFO World - Rendlesham page on his UFO World site in the U.K.
